What is an LED dragon egg?
An LED dragon egg is a 3D printed dragon egg with a warm light glowing from inside. The egg is printed with a pattern of scales and cracks that let the light shine through in different ways — so it looks like a real dragon egg with fire smouldering inside.
How does it glow?
Like a lithophane, the egg plays with light through the thickness of the plastic:
- Thicker areas of the shell stay dark, shaping the scales.
- Thinner cracks and details glow brightly, like embers.
- A warm LED inside spreads a soft, cosy light through the whole egg.
The result is a lamp that looks completely different in daylight and at night.
